Jonah chapter one versus one through three. Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah, the son of

Amitai, saying, arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it for their evil has

come up before me. But Jonah rose to flee, to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. There is so

much here. I'm actually studying Jonah right now in preparation for the next secret church,

as we're going to dive into the book of Jonah. And I can't wait. This book is so rich, like

every single word you can just see inspired by the Holy Spirit every single word matters. So

at secret church.org. But that's not the point here. The point is I'm going to have a really hard

time over the next few podcast episodes condensing these verses from Jonah into a thought and a prayer

because there's so much here. The picture I just want to clearly point out in Jonah chapter one

is that Jonah heard the word of the Lord and did the exact opposite of it. He didn't obey God's

word, God's leadership in his life. And I read that and I think I'm so tempted to do the same thing

every day, all day long at different points to hear God's word, God's spirit prompt me to do

something and to not do it. It's interesting in my New Testament reading for today. Luke chapter 6

verse 47. Listen to this. Jesus says everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them.

I'll show you what he's like. He's like a man building a house who dug deep and laid the

foundation on the rock. I want to flood Rose, the stream broke against that house and could not

shake it because it had been well built. But the one who hears and does not do them, who hears my

word and does not do it, it's like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation when

the stream broke against it immediately. It fell and the ruin of that house was great. Simple take
