to Ephesians. Chapter 6 verses 1 through 3 will be our text today. I'll ask you to stand

if you're able. You can follow along as I read. If not, that's all right, where you're seated.

Beginning in verse 1, the Apostle Paul is writing by the Holy Spirit and he says, children, obey your parents in the Lord.

Can I just read that again? Just indulge me. I, children, obey your parents in the Lord.

I want to say it loud enough for the children's ministry to hear, but anyway, for this is

right.

Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise so that verse three it may go well with you

and that you may enjoy long life on the earth let's pray if you would join with me.

Loving Heavenly Father, we're so thankful to you for your word in this portion that we have

here before us in your word today.

We do readily admit though that unless the Holy Spirit ministers to us and opens up the

eyes of our understanding, our time together in your word is potentially going to be a waste

of time and none of us want that.

So Lord, will you in the time that we have together in your word today speak into our lives as only you can and always do?

Lord, thank you.

And the reason being is, is that verse four is more about the responsibility of the parent, specifically the father, interestingly, the father,

first and foremost, to train and instruct children to obey.

In other words, the onus is on the father and the mother to instruct the children

concerning obedience in the Lord. Now, I decided to take only verse four next week, Lord willing, because it's going to really fit in with and
