The first lesson on obedience is found in the first book in the Bible, and it is found very early in the first book.

And if you'll turn to this second chapter of Genesis, here is the first lesson on obedience,

to be found in the Bible anywhere.

And the scripture says in this second chapter, beginning in verse 15, after God

had created everything, then the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to

cultivate it. And to keep it. This is Adam by himself now. The Lord God commanded, the man

saying, from any tree of the garden, you may eat

freely. But from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat. For in the day that

you eat from it, you will surely die."

What an awesome lesson.

That's the first lesson on obedience.

In the day that you eat of the fruit of this tree, you shall surely die.

And God had created everything absolutely, perfectly beautiful. And he said, here's

one lesson, first lesson you must learn. In the day that you eat of it, you shall surely die,

which is way of saying, there are consequences of violating my rules in the midst of all this awesome beauty and

endless blessing that I've provided for you.

And the truth is, in your family and mine, the first lesson we should teach your children

is a lesson to obey.

And if you'll turn to Ephesians for a moment and notice that Paul emphasized this in the

sixth chapter of his epistle to the Ephesians, beginning in verse one, he said, children,
