President Obama, Congress and Epidemic Gun Violence.

Hello again, I'm Warren Olney, and this is To the Point from Public Radio International.

A daily look at the issues Americans care about most. The president today signed 23 executive orders and asked Congress

for additional gun control measures with an appeal to the public. This will not happen unless

the American people demanded. It was an emotional presentation, including grade school children

who'd written him letters and parents of some of the 20 kids killed at Sandy Hook Elementary.

Today we'll hear what's in the executive orders the president signed and assess his chances on Capitol Hill, where the focus is on Democrats in the Senate.

We'll also hear what the NRA has to say.

On the Porter's notebook later on, French Action in Mali and U.S. involvement.
