Is President Obama raising new hopes for Middle East peace?

Hello again, I'm Arminolny, and this is To the Point from Public Radio International.

A daily look at the issues Americans care about most.

First to Palestinian leaders in Ramallah, then to an auditorium full of students in Jerusalem.

President Obama delivered a similar message today.

Peace is possible.

It is possible.

The president plunged back into the perils of Middle East diplomacy,

backing a Palestinian state at the same time supporting Israel almost without reservation.

He called settlements in the occupied West Bank counterproductive and urged young Israelis to pressure an older generation of political leaders.

We'll hear a variety of reactions today.
