Oakley Carlson spent most of her first three years being raised by a loving and stable family

before she was ordered rather suddenly to be returned to her birth parents. In spite of ongoing documented concerns,

she was left in the home, and it has now been nearly four years since the last confirmed

sighting of Little Oakley Carlson. I'm Charlie, and welcome to Crime Lines.

show notes. So with that, let's get started with Oakley Carlson. I just love her name. She was born on

December 6, 2016 to Jordan Bowers and Andrew Carlson. At the time she was born, she had two older half-siblings, one from each

parent, and an older sister who was just about a year older than her. Something we have to get into

in this episode is the family's relationship with the Department of Children, Youth, and Families,

because it is at the root of a lot of the advocacy work

in this case. So to illustrate why that is, we need to start before Oakley was even born,

when her mother Jordan had her first and at the time only child removed from her care

due to concerns over substance abuse and domestic violence.

I will be referring to him as B for his privacy. B was in care for a period of time but was returned

to his mother in 2015. That same year, Jordan had her first child with Andrew Carlson, a girl we are

going to call Dee again for her privacy. D was born with a rare condition that caused developmental

delays, low vision, and required daily medication in the form of injections.
