On this Friday, I was dining in Manhattan the other day at Pat C's Italian restaurant.

A place Frank Sinatra used to frequent.

There was old Frank's pictures on the wall, bad to pay at all.

And I got to thinking about how America has dominated the music industry for about

a hundred years.

Sinatra, Elvis, Hendrix, Billy Holiday, Chuck Berry, Michael Jackson, with the exception

of the Beatles and the British Invasion in the mid-60s.

It's pretty much been all USA.

But today, the music industry itself is dominated largely by hip hop and rap.

And I don't think those two genres are going to be listened to twenty years from now.

Maybe I'm wrong.

But it's not like Billy Joel, the Beach Boys, Eagles, those classic groups and Joel himself.

Those songs are going to be listened to throughout our lifetime.

But little plum or whoever is rapping today, I don't even know who they are, that stuff

is momentary.

But America is the dominant force for music on this planet.
