On this Tuesday I am thinking about Mel Brooks who turns 94 years old this week.

Mr. Brooks is a genius and has provided laughs to folks all over the world his entire life.

But Mel Brooks is a satirist and two of his most successful films could not be made today

because our culture is drowning in political correctness.

In 1974 the movie Blazing Saddles debuted, co-written by Brooks and Black Committee

and actor Richard Pryor among others.

The movie mocked a racist western town that hires a new sheriff.

Only to find out the law man is African American.

But the town's folk do not call him that if you get my drift.

Blazing Saddles was nominated for three Academy Awards.

Seven years earlier Mel Brooks directed The Producers, another satire.

This film lampooning the theater industry on Broadway.
