It occurs to me that we need a lot more comedy and far less hateful political stuff in this

country.

It used to be, we could end the day with a few A political laughs from Johnny Carson

in his crew, which often featured brilliant wits like Don Rickles, Jonathan Winters, and

Robin Williams.

Comedians were clever back then, not playing to a political side like Colbert and Kimmel

Dew.

I missed John Stewart, who, although a left-wing enthusiast, was very quick-witted and could

laugh at himself.

I sparred with him many times on the air, same with Letterman, who could take punches as

well as throw them at least with me.

Mel Brooks is a classic funny guy, but could never make blazing saddles or the producers

today.
