On this Christmas Eve, I am thinking about my prior Christmases and I recommend that you

do that too.

So all of us have had really, really nice Christmases and some that have not been so good.

One of my most memorable Christmases happened in 1969 when I was a student in Europe and I

was in Vienna, Austria, alone on Christmase.

I stayed in a very small family run hotel and my plan was to go to the Cathedral in Vienna

at Midnight Mass and hear the Vienna boys choir.

I thought that was a great plan, right?

What a Christmas thing.

Now I was traveling alone because all my friends went back to the United States.

I was studying in London at the university there and I decided now I'm not going to go

back to America.

I'm going to kind of float around Europe to see what Christmases like over there.

But I had no idea of what was going to come.

So I kind of dressed up on Christmase Eve and I went down to the Cathedral hoping to

get a good seat in one early and all of a sudden there were like arm guards all around

the church and I went up to one who spoke English and I said, look, I'd like to go to Midnight

Mass because you have a ticket.

I go to ticket.

It's mass.
