Update morning edition. On this Friday, your humble correspondent was petitioned by the French magazine La Express

to talk American politics. And here's what I told the reporter, that President Trump wants Europe to prosper,

because that helps the USA. But he's not going to pay for the continent's

collective defense because that drains the American treasury. That Europeans don't generally

understand Mr. Trump. He's a provocateur, yes, but he's also a savvy dealmaker. I believe

he will get a ceasefire in Ukraine fairly quickly.

Gaza, more complicated.

That President Trump wants peace on earth

for the obvious reason,

but also because calm leads to prosperity.

Europeans are also way too dependent on state-run media like the BBC, and they don't pick up the rhythms of American politics.

In addition, they don't understand what a disaster President Biden has been for working

Americans whose take-home pay is being drained by high taxes and foolish policies.

In Europe, most folks are totally dependent on government.
