On this Monday morning, I am thinking about Victor Hugo.

You will get canceled one day.

You'll get canceled for your convictions, religious or political, or maybe even just for

saying something the wrong way.

One day, like when the actor Benedict Cumberbatch said, colored actors instead of actors

of a color.

Now, when you do get canceled, let's take some wisdom from Victor Hugo.

So Victor Hugo threw out Le Miseroll and the hunchback of Notre Dame like mid-1890s.

He was also in the French parliament.

And in 1851, Napoleon III took power and Victor Hugo was exiled from France.

And he said, exile.

And he just moaps around and complained about life for the rest of it.

No, he thrived.

He said, I find increasingly that exile is good.

These last three years, I feel that I'm on the true peak of life.

I can distinguish the real linements of all that people call facts, history events, successes,

catastrophes, the huge machinery of providence.

He means you can just see things more clearly, more broadly, long term.

Now everything comes together.

He said, at least for this reason alone, I should thank Mr. Bonaparte, who exiled me.
