the fifth series. Here's a little bit of what it sounds like.

Now, you know in this podcast we love to smoosh together cultural happenings with beloved

BBC formats. So today we launch Royality Check and our Royality Check correspondent is former

Royal correspondent Jenny Bond, who I've been speaking to. How realistic is the depiction of

the Charles and Diana disintegrating marriage?

There's a great deal of truth in what we see, but it is a distorted truth. It is a dramatized

truth. There is poetic licence. Of course, and that is the right of a dramatist.

The problem as I see it is that people are believing that to be an entirely accurate portrait.

When it isn't, if you'd lived through it as I did reported on it, as I did, it actually becomes

quite irritating when things are chronologically wrong with dramatic effects.

And when words are put in the mouths of these principal players, when honestly, if you'd lived

through it as I did and reported on it, you are often, did I say to myself, and others,

oh my god, you could not have made this up. Well, I have. And I don't know why.
