Strike the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered. It's going to occur in Zechariah significantly,

and then it's going to be quoted in the New Testament with reference to Jesus when they arrest him and all his disciples flee.

And so these words about Joshua are really setting up a type of the King of Israel who goes out before

them, comes in before them, leads them out in battle, and who serves as the shepherd of the

sheep of the nation of Israel.

So, brothers, last week, we finished the story of Balak and Balam, and we saw that while the

Lord was sort of giving them stirring prophecies about their future and making promises to them

about their future king, what they were up to in the present was bleak. They were down at the bottom

of the mountain, worshipping other gods, committing wicked blasphemy. So that was numbers 24 and 25, right? Correct. So a really

brief summary of that. This week, we're going to finally pick up the pace a little bit. And all

God's people said, yay. So we're going to go a little bit faster here. We're going to talk about

numbers 26 through 31. And in these chapters, just a little bit of a preview, we get a census. We get, believe it or not,
