0:23.4	First reading from today's mass comes from Numbers, Chapter 21.
0:28.2	The Israelites left Mount Orr by the road to the sea of Suf, to skirt the land of Edum, on the way the people lost patience.
0:37.0	They spoke against Ma, God, and against Moses.
0:42.0	Why did you bring us out of Egypt to die in this wilderness?
0:46.3	For there is neither bread nor water here.
0:49.0	We are sick of this unsatisfying food. At this God sent fiery serpents among the people. Their bite brought
0:57.6	death to many in Israel. The people came and said to Moses, we have sinned by speaking against the Lord and against you.
1:06.0	Intercede for us with the Lord to save us from these serpents.
1:10.0	Moses interceded for the people and the Lord answered him.
1:15.0	Make a fiery serpent and put it on a standard.
1:19.0	If anyone is bitten and looks at it, he shall live. So Moses fashioned a bronze serpent which he put on a
1:26.9	standard and if anyone was bitten by a serpent he looked at the bronze serpent and lived.
1:35.0	The Lord allowed suffering in the form of fiery serpents to discipline the rebellious souls of the Israelites.
1:45.0	In their suffering, they made the choice to turn back to God.
1:50.0	Then the sign of their suffering became the sign of their healing.
1:55.8	The means of their suffering became the means of their healing.
2:03.0	Our Father who art in heaven, hollow it be your name.
