Summary

In this episode, we cover Numbers 17-18. Here we see God verify Aaron as his choice for High Priest for the 3rd and final time. This time God is going to give the people a visible reminder, a staff. 0:02.6	And we're in the book of numbers.
0:04.3	Welcome to the club.
0:09.5	When last we left you in the Bible Book Club, in chapters 15 and 16, we were discussing
0:14.4	a few more laws.
0:16.7	But don't worry, we're not going back to Leviticus and Law School.
0:19.8	We're still in numbers,
0:26.3	taking the census, just learning more about Moses. And Moses, unfortunately, is facing more mutiny. Cora, one of the Levites, wanted a chance at the priesthood. So stirred up about 250 men,
0:34.0	basically created a riot, including Dathan,biram, and the Rubinites.
0:39.2	Cora, Dathan, and Aberum then get swallowed alive.
0:42.2	It's not a good thing.
0:43.4	With their family.
0:44.5	With their families.
0:46.0	It made me sad.
0:46.9	And then the 250 take part in a sacred censor test and they're burned to death.
0:52.5	So moral of the story is don't oppose Moses or anything else that
0:57.1	the Lord has ordained. Then on top of that, the people start grumbling against Moses as if that wasn't enough.
1:02.9	They start grumbling against Moses and Aaron, blaming them for the deaths. God sends a plague. Only Aaron can
1:08.4	stop it, which he does. In each case, God was confirming Aaron
1:11.9	as his choice for high priest. All right, as Heather just said, in chapter 16, God defended
1:17.1	Aaron against Cora and his followers when they challenged the priesthood. Now, chapter 17 is
1:24.3	directly linked to chapter 16 as it is the third and final time.
