Summary

Last week, Ali went and met Nigel Clough, the Manager of Burton Albion and one of very few people who can say, genuinely, that they have lived their whole life within football. When I'm walking down Main Street, with my heart round your side, I can light up your cigarette.

Delighted to be here at Burton Albion for NTT20 meets Nigel Clough.

0:32.7

Nigel, thank you very much for having me down today.

0:34.8

That's a pleasure, Ali.

You are the current manager of

0:37.6

Burton Albion and Nigel, like many of our previous guests, had a brilliant playing career,

0:44.3

mostly in the top flight, which is obviously not our area of interest or expertise, but

1:34.3

if there's a manager now. Really? 14 England caps? Yeah. In some ways. No, in some ways. I think

1:39.4

the game's changed quite a lot in the last 20 years. But I don't know, I would hope that other teammates

1:47.0

wanted you around in the team as a player, most importantly.

1:51.0

If you could help them get three points on a Saturday,

1:54.0

that's all that mattered.

1:55.0

What were your main skills on the pitch?

1:58.0

Getting hold of the ball, controlling it and passing it to a teammate.
