The issue of Trident the UK's nuclear deterrent has come back onto the agenda with a potential split between Jeremy Corbyn, who is very anti-nuclear and his party, who

are pro for very different reasons. I'm going to talk to Stephen, our Stegers editor,

and George, our politics editor, who have both written about this for the magazine this week.

George, I'm going to start with you.

Corbin has been a lifelong unilateralist and although he's made compromises on things

like NATO membership there's no sign that this is something that he's

he will compromise on is there?

Absolutely so he feels like he has a mandate from the members for this position.

He's never disguised to support for unilateral disarmament,

but of course that puts him at odds with a lot of labor MPs and with significantly most of his Shadow Cabinet.

So I think apart from Corbyn there are only four other confirmed Un unilateralists in the Shadow Cabinet.

And crucially, the vote on renewal is going to be held by next March at the latest.
