President Trump has just announced that one of the two National Guard members shot in Washington, D.C.

yesterday, has died.

Sarah Bextram of West Virginia, one of the guardsmen that we're talking about, highly

respected, young, magnificent person, started service in June of

2023.

Outstanding in every way, she's just passed away.

20-year-old Bextram and Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe were shot just two blocks from the White

House on Wednesday, and Afghan National is in custody and is facing charges in that attack.

He was also shot and is being treated for his injuries.

Officials say he entered the U.S. in 2021 through Operation Allies Welcome.

Pope Leo met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the first foreign trip of his papacy today,

as NPR's Ruth Sherlock reports,

the first American Pope pressed Turkey to do more to protect religious minorities.
