President Biden is urging Americans to lower the temperatures now that the election is over.

Biden says that Democrats should not feel defeated because they lost a

battle. I will do my duty as president. I'll fulfill my oath. And I will honor the Constitution.

On January 20th, we'll have a peaceful transfer of power here in America.

Biden says the outcome of Tuesday's election should end conspiracy theories

about the integrity of the American election system. He says his staff will make its remaining

74 days in office meaningful. The outgoing administration has suffered a major defeat. The federal

judge has struck down a program that allowed undocumented immigrant spouses of U.S. citizens to seek legal status.

The ruling came in a lawsuit filed by more than a dozen Republican-led states.

The Justice Department has not indicated whether or not it will file an appeal.

European leaders are urging President-elect Donald Trump to maintain support for Ukraine and to avoid trade wars.

As NPR's Eleanor Beardsley reports, Trump's victory has major implications for Europe and its interests.

Trump's relationship with his European peers was tense and rocky during his first term,

and the prospect of his return to power

brings uncertainty over U.S. commitment to NATO and backing for Ukraine.

European Commission head Ursula von der Leyen said the European Union must now be united.

She said no EU member state on its own can manage the upcoming challenges.
