Live from NPR news in Washington, I'm Jack Spear. Housing costs are a top concern for many voters,

as NPR's Laura Wamsley reports, former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris

are proposing different ideas for addressing the country's housing woes.

Harris and Trump agree on a few ideas to bring down housing costs, including building more homes,

cutting red tape, and opening up some public lands for housing. Harris is calling for

three million new homes and tax credits that would encourage building more affordable

apartments and starter homes. She also wants to give $25,000 in down payment assistance to first-time

home buyers who qualify, though economists warn that those payments could push some home prices

higher. Trump, meanwhile, says he will slash inflation to bring down mortgage rates. Many economists, though, say his

Alon Musk has lost his bid to move the case involving his million dollar at a time giveaways

to federal court. A judge denying Musk's bid to move his case out of Pennsylvania's state court.

Musk has been giving a million-dollar checks to randomly selected voters who signed a petition supporting

free speech and gun rights. Philadelphia's Democratic Attorney General Lawrence Krasner sued Musk

in his political action committee, calling that program an illegal lottery. Must so far has given nearly $120 million to support Trump's campaign.
