Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Child Snighter, the Israeli military has confirmed

that its war planes carried out an air strike today on the Jabalya refugee camp in Northern

Gaza.

It's the largest refugee camp in Gaza, and one of the most densely populated NPR's

great Myri is in Tel Aviv.

The military gave a briefing and said the target was Hamas militants, including a gentleman

named Ibrahim B.R.E. described as a senior commander and a central figure in the October

7 Hamas attack on Israel.

Israel says the Hamas commander and other militants were killed in the attack, Palestinian health

officials say at least 50 Palestinians were killed.

Israelis are reported to be struggling to care for the wounded.

Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had a dramatic day

on Capitol Hill.

Their testimony at a Senate hearing was repeatedly interrupted by protesters, calling for an

end to Israel's bombardment of Gaza.

The hearing had to be suspended as Capitol police escorted the demonstrators out of the room.

Blinken and Austin Ron Capitol Hill urged Congress to immediately send aid to both Israel

and Ukraine.
