President Biden will address the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas and the war in

Ukraine during a primetime speech tonight.

NPR's Dominic O'montonara reports that Biden is facing lots of risk and little reward

in how he handles these international crises.

Biden has taken a strongly pro-Israel stance and he has two audiences this evening, Congress

and the American people more broadly.

He's looking to procure funding for both conflicts and he wants to rally voters to unify in

supporting Israel.

But Biden faces complications on both ends.

Republicans in Congress have still been unable to pick a speaker and with Congress hamstrunk

it can't provide funding for anything, including Biden's foreign policy priorities.

And some in Biden's base younger voters in particular want to hear a more nuanced approach

that gives more consideration to Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

It's a fine needle Biden will have to try and thread.
