President Biden is turning up the pressure on Congress to approve a fresh round of assistance

for Ukraine.

Here's Windsor Johnston reports, with many hard-right Republicans opposing additional aid,

Biden's urging lawmakers to, quote, stop playing games and get a deal done.

In an urgent plea to Congress, President Biden warned lawmakers that time is running

out to keep aid flowing to Ukraine.

Let's vote on it, and I want to assure our American allies and the American people and

the people of Ukraine that you can count on our support we will not walk away.

Biden spoke after lawmakers struck a last-minute deal on Saturday to avert a government shutdown.

The stopgap bill does not include additional aid for Ukraine, a provision that Democrats

in both chambers are demanding.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and other Republicans have signaled support for supplemental funding,

but it's unclear whether a bill will be taken up in the lower chamber for a vote.
