President Trump is vowing that U.S. troops will not be deployed to Ukraine.

But as NPR's Franco-Ordonias reports, the White House confirms that U.S. air support is an option under consideration, as Western leaders discuss security guarantees for Ukraine as part of a potential peace deal with Russia.

President Trump says U.S. troops would not be joining potentially European troops who may

serve on the ground to help maintain any peace deal agreed to by Ukraine and Russia, but said on

Fox News that the U.S. could provide some kind of air support.

When it comes to security, they're willing to put people on the ground.

We're willing to help them with things, especially probably if you talk about by air,

because there's nobody has the kind of stuff we have.

White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt confirmed that U.S. flown air support was an option. She says the

President understands that security guarantees are crucial and has directed his national security team

The White House says that since the federal takeover of Washington, D.C.'s law enforcement over a week ago,

nearly half of arrests not related to illegal immigration have taken place in high crime areas.

Press Secretary Caroline Levitt disclosed details that she says result from a White House analysis.

But city officials point to local and federal data showing

that the overall rate of violent crime has fallen nearly 30 percent of the city. Baltimore mayor
