The month of July, 2023 could prove to be the hottest month of recorded temperatures

on planet Earth.

Today Pope Francis told the Sunday crowds in St. Peter's Square that recent heat waves

and flooding across many parts of the world show urgent action is needed and he appealed

to world leaders to take action to limit greenhouse gas emissions.

On Capitol Hill, Congressman Eric Sorenson offered his personal view as a former television

meteorologist urging citizens to demand more climate science reporting.

I would encourage people to reach out to their meteorologists, reach out to their television

stations and say, I want more reporting on the science, not the opinion because local

meteorologists earn the trust of the people by telling them the truth.

Following U.S. records, Phoenix, Arizona has logged 23 consecutive days with temperatures

at or above 110 degrees.

The creation of a local water board for a development in Arizona is providing some hope

for residents of a community cut off from their water supply.

From station KJZ and Phoenix, Chad Snow reports.

The nearby city of Scottsdale had long supplied water to Rio Verde foothills, but it shut down

service in January.

This month, emergency state legislation created a short-term solution, working with Scottsdale

to reopen a close standpipe.

At the first meeting of a water board created by the law, members told residents they are

working with other water providers on a longer-term fix.
