The House of Representatives has approved a White House request to claw back two years of previously approved funding for public media.

The recisions package now moves on to the Senate.

This move poses a serious threat to local stations and public media as we know it.

Inflation ticked up 2.7% from a year ago.

There are the latest figures out from the Commerce Department today.

NPR, Scott Horsley reports President Trump's tariff agenda is making it hard to bring down the cost of living.

Even if tariffs remain at their current level, though, which is the highest in nearly a century,

there will continue to be upward pressure on prices.

And that's why investors expect the Federal Reserve to hold

interest rates steady when policymakers meet in a couple of weeks.

Markets are betting the Fed will start to cut interest rates in September. President Trump and his

allies have been jawboning the central bank, insisting the rate should be lower. But as we

learned today, Trump's own tariffs are making it harder for the Fed to get inflation under control.

Attorney General Pam Bondi tried to sidestep questions about her handling of the investigative files of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

NPR's Ryan Lucas reports Bondi also refused to address reports of a rift with the FBI's deputy director over the Epstein investigation.

Bondi has come under a wave of criticism from many in President Trump's Maga Bay since the Justice Department released a memo last week,

stating that there was no Epstein client list, that Epstein had indeed died by suicide, and that no further

files from the investigation would be made public. Some critics have called for Bondi's

resignation, asked how she would respond to the MAGA frustrations. Bondi said this.
