Israel's army says an offensive targeting militants in the Jenin Refugee camp could

last for at least another day.

Palestinian state least eight people have been killed and scores wound it.

The United Nations says Israel has destroyed key infrastructure there.

The US has not yet called for a de-escalation as it has in the past in PR's Daniel Estromer

reports from Tel Aviv.

The Israeli army says it dug up roads to thwart roadside bombs.

Palestinian medics say that has made it hard to evacuate the wounded and nearby families

from the area.

The UN reports water and electricity outages because of the destroyed infrastructure.

Israel says hundreds of ground troops continue to operate in the camp and says it has conducted

at least ten air strikes from drones.

It marks a significant escalation after a very violent year.

Israeli troops have killed over 130 Palestinians and regular army raids and Palestinian militants

have killed 24 people, according to an associated press count.

A US State Department spokesman said quote, we support Israel's security and right to

defend its people.

It called for the protection of civilian lives.
