after tornadoes ripped through parts of Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas last night.

As in fear Joe Hernandez reports, other states are now preparing for severe weather

as the storms move east.

Severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings were issued in all three states late Saturday and into Sunday morning.

The punishing weather also destroyed buildings, felled trees, and knocked down power lines, leaving tens of thousands of people without

power across the region. By midday Sunday the storms had hit other nearby

states too including Kentucky and Tennessee. The National Weather Service says large swaths of the Ohio and Mississippi valleys

are facing an enhanced risk of severe weather later Sunday,

and by Memorial Day, heavy rain is expected in parts of the Mid-Atlantic,

including Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey.
