President Trump says the U.S. will escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz starting tomorrow.

He didn't name the countries or say how this will work, but he says they're not involved in the war.

Congress is out this week, but the fight over reigning in Trump's war on Iran continues.

It's now past the 60-day mark, and that now

legally requires approval from Congress to continue. And here's Eric McDaniel has more.

Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island, the top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee,

told ABCs this week that the U.S. is in a, quote, much worse position since the war in Iran

began. He doesn't believe President Trump has a plan to achieve his stated objectives.

The regime in Tehran is probably more hostile and fanatical than the one that we replaced.

Republican Senator Rick Scott of Florida told Fox News Sunday that, quote,

the president is finally doing the right thing.

He's going to hold them accountable. A Washington Post, ABC News Ipsos poll released last week,

found that 61% of U.S. adults believe that the United States using military force against Iran was a mistake.

Eric McDaniel, NPR News, Washington. Meanwhile, gas prices across the country have reached the highest level since

July of 2022, going up more than 30 cents a gallon in the past week. NPR Shonda Lee's Duster has more.

AAA says the national average is around $4.44 per gallon. That's nearly a dollar and 50 cents

higher than the national average before the war in Iran

started. Kevin Book, co-founder of Clearview Energy Partners, told NPR that depending on how long

the Strait of Hormuz stays closed, gas prices could rise higher. When inventories are low and you

can't get oil out of the ground or out of the straight, you should expect

prices to keep rising at least until demand capitulates and starts to contract. President Trump
