Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Louise Skiyvone. Pakistan's army chief arrived in Tehran today as part of its ongoing mediation efforts between Iran and the U.S.

As Betsy Jolz reports, this comes after President Trump suggested another round of talks could be held in Pakistan within days.

The timing of possible talks remains uncertain, however,

as three of Pakistan's key mediators were outside of the country on Wednesday.

They include the country's army chief, Asim Munir,

along with Pakistan's prime minister and foreign minister,

who left for diplomatic visits to Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Qatar.

Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson,mail Bakai told Iranian state media

that exchanges with the U.S. have continued through Pakistan

after an initial round of talks in Islamabad last weekend ended without a deal.

In a press briefing, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt called

Pakistan the, quote, only mediator in this negotiation. For NPR news, I'm Betsy Jolz and Islamabad.

Swing voters in Georgia say the war in Iran is going poorly and will lead to even more economic

pressures back home. These voters recently participated

in online focus groups observed by NPR's Ashley Lopez. The 13 voters who participated in these

groups voted for Biden in 2020 and then Trump in 2024. And all 13 said they don't think the war

is going well. They say they're concerned the president is

focused on the wrong issues. Dawn, who participated under the condition her last name would not be used,

said she's particularly frustrated that the president is not focused on the economy.

Everything is higher now. It's not going down, like he said. Cost of living of everything. Food, oil,

housing, health care, you name it.
