U.S military and defense officials say Iran launched more than 100 ballistic missiles in its

attack on Israel last night in addition to drones and other kinds of missiles, and Israeli

officials are debating how to respond.

And Piers Deepa Shivram has more.

A senior defense official says there were some tense moments

as President Biden got real-time updates in the situation room as the missiles launched on Saturday night.

They were waiting to see if the defense is held and they did.

After Biden called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

and said Israel came out ahead,

but Biden emphasized that he didn't want to see further escalation of the conflict

in the Middle East.

Officials said the U.S. would not participate in any retaliatory

strike against Iran and warned that Israel needs to be careful on how it responds to

Iran.

Meanwhile Jordan was among the countries that helped Israel shoot down the drones and missiles.
