Live from MPR News in Washington, on Child Snighter, that storm system that left at least nine

people dead in the south and hundreds of thousands of power outages from Michigan to

New York to Alabama is now moving over the northeast.

The storm expected to dump heavy snow, sleet, and rain in the region through this afternoon.

With fierce fighting reported today in and around the eastern Ukrainian city of Buckmoot,

the White House has announced a new $400 billion aid package, press secretary Karin Jampier.

This package includes more ammunition for US-provided high-mars and howitzers that Ukraine is using

so effectively to defend itself, as well as ammunition for Bradley Infantry Fighting

vehicles, armored vehicle launch bridges, and demolition munitions, and equipment.

Jampier spoke during a White House briefing as President Biden met with German Chancellor

Olaf Schultz in the Oval Office.

The administration is again pledging to support Ukraine for as long as it takes.

The conservative political action conference known as CPAC wraps up this evening after three

days of events.

Former President Trump is set to be the closing act as MPR's Elena Moore reports.

CPAC has traditionally been a key stop for Republicans thinking about a run for President,

and tonight Trump makes his speech, a highly anticipated event for many at the conference

It comes just one day after attendees heard from Nikki Haley, the former governor of South

Carolina who's also thrown her hat in the ring.

But missing from the CPAC lineup this year are a handful of other Republicans weighing

possible presidential runs, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former Vice President

Mike Pence, and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott.
