China's Defense Ministry is criticizing the US decision to shoot down a balloon-spotted

floating across the US, calling the use of force an overreaction.

The incident has provoked fear on both sides as the Imperial Assembly fang reports.

China's Defense Ministry said Sunday,

�Reserve the right to use any means necessary to respond to the US�s shooting down of its

balloon.

China continues to insist the balloon was a civilian airship used primarily for research,

and not the surveillance vehicle US Defense officials say it almost certainly was.

A US F-22 fighter jet shot down the balloon off the coast of South Carolina this weekend,

a move China condemned, saying, �violated international practice�.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken cancelled a Sunday trip to Beijing.

It was a trip meant to stabilize the US-China relationship, which instead, has only worsened.

President Biden says he approves the downing of the balloon and follows the advice of

military officials by waiting to bring it down over water.

Rather than risk of brief falling on populated areas, one South Carolina resident who witnessed

the fighter jet fire on the balloon said she did not anticipate being in a top-gun movie.
