There are these networks of staunchly pro-gun groups on Facebook, and one of them is run by

these three brothers, the door brothers. But it turns out they don't just do guns.

The door family name has been attached to other causes. Their goal is to eliminate public

education and to replace it with Christian schooling, the roots of the door family,

on the no-compromised podcast from NPR.

Favorite music from September. We have members of the NPR music staff looking back at their

favorite music from the past month. We'll begin with Marissa Leruso, who's picked,

what was my favorite song. So I'll let Marissa tell you all about it.

I'm Marissa Leruso. I'm a writer and editor for NPR Music, and my favorite song of September

was Anything by Adrian Lanker. Adrian is the singer and guitarist in Big Thief, but she's put out

some really wonderful solo records too. And anything is the first single from a new solo album.

It's actually a double album, one called Songs, which is full of songs, and one called

Instrumentals, which as you might imagine is full of Instrumentals. All the songs were written and

recorded in a small cabin in western Massachusetts, where Adrian stayed after Big Thief's tour

got cut short because of the pandemic. Anything is a delicate graceful song, even though it seems

to recall pretty painful difficult memories. I think that's often what Adrian does best in her

songs. There's sometimes a violence that co-exist with tenderness. And in this song, it all comes

back, especially in the chorus, to vulnerability and love. It really soothed me in a time when I really

needed it this month.

The groceries store is naked in this. Our shed calls and messages but I want to be here,

I'm ready to feel the sea. That's just gonna be a party, a family. I don't wanna talk about it,

anything. I don't wanna talk about anything. I'm like, kiss, kiss you, kiss you again.
