The Relief. That's the nothing personal word of the day. It is Thursday, March 12th,

2026. And if you think that Team USA has any other emotion other than absolute and complete, than roll aids level relief than you

were not paying attention to what was going on during the day yesterday in the halls of major

league baseball in the clubhouse of team USA in the front office of team USA as they sat during the day wondering how do we get

through this mess that we find ourselves in not just not controlling their own destiny that

would be enough but the absolute PR nightmare that existed following Team USA's loss to Italy the other night,

what ensued with manager Mark DeRosa, what ensued with the viral nature of the entire day

of Mark DeRosa saying,

we clinched, but then I made a mistake, we didn't clinch,

and then the scenarios which are enough to make a rock nervous.

I've seen how the tie-breaking scenarios are done

in Major League Baseball for playoff teams and seedings and regular

season. And there's a whole lot of talk that goes on in committee meetings about how you deal

with tying scenarios. There's always different levels because it's like AI says, well, wait a minute, what if this happens?

What if they're tied after this? We have to go deeper, deeper because the final tiebreaker is

always the same. That, the flip of a coin. But you got to really spend a lot of time getting there.

And so yesterday was basically spent

doing exactly what the commissioner's office

did not want to have happen

as the World Baseball Classic was entering the knockout round.

Did not want the center of discussion to be Mark DeRosa.
