Let's check in on the city of Houston, shall we?

Mayor Turner has been telling us don't worry about crime because it's down.

It's real safe out there. Vote for Sheila Houston male carriers rally to

highlight the growing number of assaults and robberies against them in the

Houston area.

Clip number 15, Fox 26 letter carriers in the Houston area are bringing

attention to a growing issue. More of them are in fear of being attacked and

robbed while delivering mail. The union tells Fox 26 and 2023 over 2,000

incidents involving their carriers have occurred across the country.

That's an increase from 722, 25 of them have taken place here in Houston.

And only 14% of total cases have resulted in an arrest or prosecution.

That's just here in Houston. And since January, those kind of numbers are

numbers we haven't seen before. And we've been carrying mail over a hundred

years. We need protection. One of those impacted is Ulysses Wells, a local

carrier who was robbed while delivering on his regular route.

Putting mail inside of the mailbox in a car just drove up.

The individuals jumped out. They attacked me for a key for a key.

Last year in the Sable Ridge subdivision in North Houston, three men surrounded

him and demanded his postal key and belongings. It's something he says

carriers shouldn't have to worry about while doing such an important job.

This is terrible. This is scary. This is frightening.
