I'm very excited about seeing the flight take off, the first 100% sustainable

0:10.6

aviation fuel across the Atlantic by commercial airline.

0:14.5

And if it had to be anyone, it should be Virgin Atlantic.

0:17.5

We've partnered up with radical collaboration, Rolls-Royce, Boeing, of course, Rocky Mountain Institute,

0:23.0

Cheffel University, Imperial College, ICF, and us at the helm. Yeah, I'm looking forward.

A cynical person would say, well, it's tremendous that you can do this. Fantastic proof of concept,

0:37.3

but actually the fact that you're not carrying any paying passengers

0:40.8

and the fact that the flight is then going to come back on just normal kerosene,

0:45.1

it shows that it might be an interesting exercise,

0:49.2

but it doesn't necessarily feed through immediately to what is happening on the ground and in the air?

1:18.5

and security. Well, it cannot be a commercial flight. So the fact that we're doing this is a first

1:24.4

of its kind. It's showing what the art of the possible is. Every great innovation

1:30.5

starts with somebody who's going to take a first step. Of course, sustainable aviation fuel,

1:36.3

we didn't invent it. We're just showing, together with our partners, that it can be done at 100%.

1:41.2

And it's really calling attention to the fact that we need more sustainable aviation

1:46.4

fuel. But I would say, you know, Virgin Atlantic is not just about sustainable aviation fuel.

1:51.2

Of course, we have the youngest fleet across the Atlantic. We've reduced carbon emissions by over

1:55.6

35% by virtue of having the youngest fleet over the past decade. So this is two-pronged attack.
