first four books of the New Testament in the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

These are the stories of Jesus Christ's life on earth, the friendships, the parables, the sacrifices, the meals, the miracles.

So here is how it works. I'll read three chapters to you. You can listen or read along in your own Bible or online, and then I'll pray, and that's it.

and I'll be reading Matthew 6 through 8 in the New Living Translation, and we are on page 151 if you've got your Let's Read the Gospels Guided Journal.

Matthew 6, watch out, don't do your good deeds publicly to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your father in heaven. When you give to someone in need, don't do as the hypocrites do, blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity. I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they

will ever get. But when you give to someone in need, don't let your left hand know what your right

hand is doing. Give your gifts in private and your father, who sees everything, will reward you.

When you pray, don't be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the

synagogues where everyone can see them.
