AII is going to be like climate change.

AI is going to be like climate change.

A planet scale shift that will change the conditions of how we humans go to work, do politics,

and exist, or not, as the most complex and powerful beings in the world.

Most grandly of all, it names the moment at which we move from being the users of tools to

being secondary to those tools themselves.

There are many reasons for skepticism, of course.

Current iterations are often, frankly, a bit crap, but are rapidly improving.

There is a seemingly relentless cycle of unfulfilled promises.

And there are many other ways that AI is already tied up in climate change.

It takes an absolutely enormous amount of water and energy to train and run.

Enough that we might even summarize the current trajectory of AI development as a plan to

boil the earth so that capitalism can finally replace all its pesky workers with perfectly

reliable machines.
