Let's get into the mix. Here are your Washington headlines of the day. Number one, McCarthy's quest for the speakership begins. Number

two, Washington waits on Pelosi. Number three, inside Jerry Connolly's bid for the House

Oversight Committee. All right, well, Congress is back. They have, they were both chambers return this week today for the beginning of the

lame duck session.

They're in session basically for this week and then leave for Thanksgiving.

The big policy issues that, we'll start with two different, we'll go on two different paths here.

Number one is the policy issues.

We are now basically one month, one month and two days ahead of December 16th, which is also my birthday, but it's also the government funding deadline.

That is a hard deadline and it's going to get even more complicated for a lot of reasons,

but because we don't know what the composition of the Senate's going to be and won't know

until early December.

So these lame duck sessions generally closely track the outcome of the election, obviously,

because members of Congress want to know what they can do, what they should do,

given the power dynamics now and what, as it relates to next year.
