All right, Brian, let's kick off the defensive portion of today's show here on the Irish Breakdown podcast

brought to you by our friends over at Fanduel. And we're going to follow copy paste, the format that we had for the offensive show. We're talking about it on defense. We're going to start things off by talking about the things that we do know about this unit and then follow it up with some questions that we do have that are going to get answered over the course of the off season. And with the defense, it's kind of interesting, Trev.

This side of the ball was a little

harder to put together on the what we knows. Because some of the what we know is you could kind of

put into like what kind of one category. You know, like there's a lot of different things.

And it took us a minute to kind of come up with like the number four thing of what we know

because of the big picture ways at which things were put in there.

But it's very interesting when you think about the defense because there is so much,

there's so much to be excited about,

but there's just a couple of things that in the back of my head really keep me from getting

fired up about it. But when you start thinking about it, the way that we did, where we're

putting an outline together, like, okay, right here, we're only focusing on what we know and what we can

confidently say. And now what we know can be good or bad? And we can like, okay, what do we know?

This is a tiny defensive line. If that's the case. Like, it doesn't matter how spring goes.

If your defensive line average is 281 pounds, it's not going to2.99 by the time you get to the fall, right?

I mean, unless they just sit around eating cheeseburgers and, you know, Papa John's pizza all summer and not working out and it's not good weight. You know, hey, this team is slow. You know, these are just examples. Like, I don't care how much they practice this. That guy's still a 4-7. You know what I mean? those are things that you can be good or bad,

but that's not the case with this team with a lot. I mean, it's all the good stuff. So when you start sitting down thinking through, okay, here's what we know about this football team. And before you get to the second part of what we don't know and just what we know, it's hard not to get

real excited at this defense trip. Just big picture. When you start listing off all the different

things that we know, you're like, dude, there's no excuse for this defense not to be elite.

Like none. This defense is loads of talent. Think about this. We're not going to have Kingston, Drake Bowen, or Madden Ferramo for much of the spring,

and yet we're still going to get to watch a starting lineup that's probably Jalen Steve

J. Nalsbury.
