Welcome to the latest episode of the Shammock post Blue Gold Game Edition.

0:15.2

My regular co-host, Matt Fortuna is off.

0:18.3

So we brought in the guy who called the Blue Gold Game,

0:20.6

who probably is probably as

0:21.7

prepared as anybody for what they saw on Saturday as guys are playing both ways, duplicate

0:28.5

numbers, it's raining sideways, you can't really see anything. So Tony Simino, thanks for making

0:35.4

some time for us on this Monday. It's officially the off season for both of us, but the weather isn't so good that we would be on a golf course right now.

0:43.3

But I was just curious, like for the start, generally speaking, what did you think on Saturday?

0:49.9

And especially, I asked that in the sense of you spent some time with coaches and players during the week. What did you think on Saturday and how did it match up from maybe what you thought you were going to say? Well, first, let me say, it's a thrill to be on the shamrock. My dad is going to be so fired up. He listens to every episode. I expect the bump when we get off the line here, so that's good.

1:29.8

Second thing is, as you said, most prepared, but then somebody was wearing a green number nine jersey. And I had no number nine on the roster that was on defense. Nothing went according to plan. as you said, the weather was kind of even a little bit unforeseen. But my takeaway from Saturday, I think, was probably everybody's takeaway, is that Sam Hartman, I think, looked the way that everyone needed him to look on Saturday.

1:40.0

And I just mean that from the standpoint of throughout the first couple weeks, you hear he wasn't maybe necessarily picking up the offense as fast as they wanted to.

1:48.8

And I think in talking with the coaches, as you mentioned, which is one of the best parts of being able to call the game as we get to talk to them really the day before the game.

1:56.4

And we got to talk to Sam as well.

1:58.8

It was pretty clear that maybe in the last week or two, there'd be kind of an evolution

2:03.4

that had really taken place that was obvious.

2:06.3

And then it was on full display.

2:07.7

And I think we have to also remember that going into the game, we all tell ourselves,

2:11.6

it's the spring game.

2:13.0

Let's not look too much into it.

2:15.6

But what would be the fun of that?

2:17.9

Yeah, that's no fun.

2:19.7

You know, they can only dial up so many blitzes.
