Vince, let's change gears and talk about the defense here in the Irish Breakdown podcast, brought to you by our friends over at Fain Duel.

What you're doing if you're just now joining us is we are ranking Notre Dame's position groups in levels of importance to winning a national title.

Now, quick caveat, because I know people have joined since we started, this isn't a ranking of which position group is better, which one we

like more, which one is more talented. This is just levels of importance for winning a national

title. Now, I will also go on to say this, like I said at the start of the first show,

Notre Dame doesn't need all five of these or all four of these defensive position groups

to be elite, all-worldly, whatever to win a national title.

Now, you could argue that the defense is closer to all three levels of the defense

playing at that elite level than what the offense is.

There's a wider margin to go for the offense than is the defense.

But at the end of the day, when you put these rankings together, somebody's going to come in

and round out the end of the ranking here. And where we're starting here, Vince, is with the

line backing room, which is interesting because me, you, and Brian have talked ad nauseum this offseason

around how bullish we are that this is the best linebacking room in the country.

Yeah, and they've had, but the thing here is also, you know,

and the reason they are ranked where they are is because I think Notre Dame has had

some pretty elite linebackers and linebacking

corps in the past. And unless I, you know, got hit in the head with a rock, Notre Dame hasn't

won a national title in a little while. So they don't, it is not completely necessary to have an elite

linebacking corps to win a national title.

I mean, it's just not.

And so, you know, it's kind of, it's similar to me.
