It is the day after signing day, and we've got a lot to talk about with signing day, Bruce,

and also with a certain NFL head coach who got fired.

But first, we have a great guest, the new head coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Marcus Freeman.

Okay, Stu, we are pleased to be joined by our guest fresh off of getting off the practice

field, not just having signing day yesterday.

Marcus Freeman, the new head coach of Notre Dame.

Marcus, thanks for joining us today on the Audible.

Thanks for having me, it's my pleasure.

All right, Marcus, we're coming off signing day. You guys had a top 10 class. It's actually the highest ranked recruiting class Notre Dame has had in nine years. Our colleague Pete Sampson wrote something interesting. And he said, it took almost Brian Kelly a decade to embrace the idea in Notre Dame could sign a top five class.

It took Marcus Freeman one week.

I'm guessing it probably took you even less time than that to think that.

So now that you're in that big chair,

what has changed about either Notre Dame football's approach to recruiting

or your approach to recruiting?

Well, for me, it was when I first got here 11 months ago. And, you know, you know Notre Dame

special, you choose it for a reason, but then you get here and you realize, man, this place is a

gold mine. And if you're able to convey to a young man that, hey, this is what Notre Dame can do for you currently in your athletic career, but also your post-athletic career.

It's the message that must be conveyed that I think if we can do that, young people will realize how special this place is.

And so that was my mindset being a defensive coordinator.

Hey, as many of these defensive

kids that I talk to, I want them to understand what makes this play special. And so obviously,
