What's going on Notre Dame fans, Mike Singer and Eric Hanson, live on the Blue and Gold YouTube channel on a Wednesday night, several hours after.

We got the unfortunate news that the great Lou Holtz has passed away,

obviously an absolute legend, you know, as a coach, as a person.

Before we dive into today's show, Eric, I will, I'll give you the floor, you know,

remembering the great coaching man. Well, it's interesting because when Lou, when I first got

into the business, Lou was actually at Arkansas, went to Minnesota, and that's

where I got more familiar with him.

I had followed him from afar,

and I always thought,

boy, he would make a great

successor to Woody Hayes

at Ohio State, and that

almost happened,

except Ohio State really dropped the ball on it.

But he turned out where he needed to be, which was at Notre Dame, and it changed the

whole trajectory of the program.

It had really gotten to a point where Notre Dame may have, had they not hired the right person at that point,

they may have never come back from that,

not to the extent that they are now.

And so I give Lou a lot of credit for,

and Gene Corrigan for hiring him,

boy, two great hires within about a year and a half,
