Brian, let's talk defensive keys to victory.

This is going to be interesting.

Building off of the what's at stake conversation,

Notre Dame defense is starting together two pretty good performances.

And we saw some things differently schematically that they did against Boise State,

which allowed them to play more fast, aggressive, free, and violent football.

Ideally, we see a little bit more of that against NC State. Now, this isn't, it's not going to mirror what it looked like against Boise State because NC State's base offense is a little different than Boise States, like we talked about, like you guys talked about in upon further review. It wasn't a secret what Boise State wanted to do. They wanted to line up in 12 personnel and run downhill.

NC State is going to try to spread you out, but that doesn't mean that you can lack aggressiveness, which is the first key to victory. Notre Dame has to be aggressive in this

matchup on Saturday.

You nailed it, Treb. It's not about X's and O's.

It's not the same coverages and the same blitzes and the same alignments that you

used against Boise State.

A lot of what they did, as we showed in the breakdown, was this is geared towards

defending a team that wants to use motions and alignments to create extra gaps in the run game.

NC State likes to run the football.

They are going to build around their run game, but it's in a different way.

Their past game is different.

This is a quarterback that I'm not going to say make C.J. Bailey beat you because he will, or he can, I should say.

It's more so about you have to be the aggressors. You have to attack. One of the flaws, and it makes a lot of sense that they're old friends and coach together and have similar philosophies.

One of my big issues with Dave Dorn over the years at NC State is just a lack of

aggressiveness outside of the Tony Gibson era.

And so they would kind of let the offense dictate to them what's going on.
