If Notre Dame wins two playoff games this year, this team would be the best since 1988.

Oh, boy. It depends on what happens in the semifinal, how they lose in the second, in the semifinals, because I still

have to look back at that 1989 and 1993 teams and say, those teams didn't lose to Northern Illinois, and they didn't lose in the semifinals. So no, I would not say that. I say the only way I would say this team is better than those teams is if they go all the way of the championship game and lose to somebody that's just not

that's really good.

But honestly, I'd have to somebody that's just not that's really good.

But honestly, I'd have to say that barring them winning a title, I don't know that this

team will be better than 89.

That 89 team was phenomenal, Trevor.

I don't think people, especially younger fans, appreciate how good that team was and how

They played number two Michigan who finished the year 7th, beat them 24 to 19 in Ann Arbor.

They played a Michigan state team that finished that year 16th and beat them 21 to 13 at home. They played

number 17 Air Force on the road, beat them 41 to 27, beat number 9 USC who finished 8th, 28 to 24.

They beat number 7 Pittsburgh, who finished 17th, 50, 45 to 7.

They beat number 17 Penn State, who finished the year 15th at Penn State by 11,
