Welcome back to the Shamrock. I'm Pete Sampson joined by my co-host Matt Fortuna in Chicago.

It's the first day, as we record this, of the early period of national signing day,

which is essentially the old February national signing day when I got to say, Matt, like,

when I got up today, I was like, you know, I kind of missed the circus of the February

national signing day when it just dominates all news headlines. And then, lo and behold,

the number one player in the country signs with dion sanders um but nton name gets a top 10 class as we record this on number seven on

24-7 sports and number seven on rivals which makes it the second highest rate or the highest

rated class since the 2013 group that had Jalen Smith in it,

Will Fuller, certainly the standard by which all other Brian Kelly classes were measured.

And in so many ways, this is, this wasn't the last Brian Kelly class.

It was the first Marcus Freeman class.

Where they made the most progress was at linebacker, which was Marcus Freeman's position. Where they need to move forward the

most is a receiver. And now that Marcus Freeman is head coach, I think that you will see that happen.

But very much this was a play to your strengths class and kill it at those positions,

but I think also a reminder of like where Notre Dame needs to go next in recruiting.

Yeah, just a completely different vibe and atmosphere,

much like every other day so far since there's been a coaching change.

But it really rung home today the difference in Notre Dame's operation,

particularly in the recruiting realm.

I mean,

you mentioned how high they were ranked and where that ranks among previous classes.

The takeaway I got from today was,
