Let's switch gears, have the same conversation but on the defensive side of the ball here in the Irish Breakdown podcast, brought to by our friends over at Van Duel.

We're talking about all-America candidates, and we just got done talking about guys like C.J. Carr and Anthony Knapp and Kirby Lambert.

Where the defense differs is there's a lot of players on defense that are a little bit closer to closing that gap to winning

all American honors than on the offensive side of the ball. A little bit projection is needed.

On defense, not so much. Some of it's like you're playing the same position, elevate a little bit,

but there's a world where the defense is home to several, and it's not a stretch.

Not that the offense is, but multiple All-American candidates on Notre Dame's defense would not shock me literally in the slightest this year.

Well, I mean, everyone on offense is that requires some projection. Everyone.

There's at least one guy on defense, and it's like there's no projection involved.

It's like, dude, you just do what you did last year because he's a returning consensus.

Unanimous All-American and that's Leonard Morris is one of the most obvious preseason All-America rankings that their name has had.

I mean, I think the only other one that I could think of in recent years that's been quite

like that is you'd have to, DBs, you'd go maybe Xavier Watts going into 2024, and then

Kyle Hamilton going into 2021.

I think of the last two times we've seen a Notre Dame player since the, you know, 2020 started.

It was like this much of a no-brainer all-American going into the season, in my opinion.

And so he certainly, you know, we won't spend a lot of time on Leonard Moore.

It's really just about stay healthy and keep doing what you're doing.

That's really it.

If he just repeats last year, he's an All-American.

Now, do I think Leonard Moore can be even better than he was last

year? Yes. But it's, they just don't need him to. Like, if he is better, great. But it's just
